NP_ImageFitter plugin enables you to set the maximum size for images per blog. This is a great help if you switch to a narrower skin and want your images fit in the narrower place without manually editing all of your blog items. The plugin does not hurt the images, only modifies the display size on-the-fly. You can enable or disable the plug-in per blog.

I have dedicated a section to Nucleus on my website and created a page for the plugin, where you can find:

  • The latest release (1.00 as of now)
  • A how-to guide on installing, configuring and using the plugin
  • The downloadable file

Please use this thread as a support and development forum regarding the plugin.

As with NP_HandyPopup, I have forgot about extended bodies. The updated release cares for extended bodies.

Thanks, e-Musty. That looks like a useful plugin.

What would you think about an option "Resize images and add popup link to full size image"?

Thanks, roel.

Your suggestion is a real good idea! I'm also thinking about introducing another option to be able to set the max size for images on detailed/full and index/short pages individually, since the available space could be really different.

That's a good one, too. That's got my vote! Cool

Thanks again, too Smile

By the way I have not forget about the two tips you and me wrote, just my week was quite busy and now I'm in setting up four blogs and, of course, I have to suck a lot to find out how to display an item by post date (as a modification to NP_YearsAgo, I'd like to render an item in place of the YearsAgo skinvar).

NP_ImageFitter v2.00 released

This new version has two new features:
  • First, you can have the plugin insert pop-up link for resized images. This function relies on NP_HandyPopup so that you must have NP_HandyPopup installed to install this plugin. But this comes with the advantage that you can configure (in NP_HandyPopup) what kind of popup code to create.
  • Second, you can set different maximal sizes for images when displayed in index and similar pages (including archive and search result) and when displayed on item pages. This way, if your item page is wider, you can set a larger maximum width.

The plugin can be downloaded from its homepage where you can also find the updated documentation.

Important Notes:
  • Before installing this plugin, remove any earlier versions of it, otherwise this version will not be able to create new settings. This will result in error messages in your blog.
  • After installing this plugin, you SHOULD change the order of the installed plugins so that NP_ImageFitter comes (is listed) prior to (or above of) NP_HandyPopup. Failing to do so, Handy Popup will not be able to process popup codes created by the plugin.
  • The default value for the setting that enables/disables the plugin for a blog has been changed so that the plugin is disabled for all blog by default. This is because otherwise it would resize images in all blog to a default width that might not be proper to you. So you MUST enable the plugin for each of your blogs in which you want it to resize images.

I have actually PopupImageGD 0.1

Is your plugin able to do the same thing, but ... to put pictures (and resize / popup) in extensed body too ?! If yes, I take.

Hi Rod,

The very short answer is yes, it is able and resizes images in extended bodies, too.

As far as I know, PopupImageGD and the other similar plugins create thumbnails and store those in the filesystem. ImageFitter does not do this, but, simply to put, modifies the width and height attribute of HTML image tags.

The difference comes into account when you have a page with lots of pictures. The mentioned plugins create smaller images (and may cache them) and your browser will have to download the small images only. Using ImageFitter, the large images are downloaded that may dramatically increase the download size of your page. On the counterpart, however, popups will display the images much quicker, since they will be in your local cache by the time you click a thumbnail.

Additionally, in ImageFitter, you can set different thumbnail width for item pages (where extended bodies are displayed as well) and the other pages.
