Hi,
You know if exist Nucleus plugin for url friendly rewrite?

For example: now my blog articles url are something like this: http://www.millestanze.it/myblog/index.php?catid=24&blogid=1

It's possible instead to have URL like this: http://www.millestanze.it/myblog/seo-and-ranking/seo-ecommerce ?

Thanks,
bye bye!

I suggests you also check out NP_LMFancierURL. It is an alternative to CustomURL made by yours truly. The LMFancierURL plugin is used on both sites in my signature.

Hi, ok thanks for your suggestion Smile

But my question is: if i install this plugin, can i change only next articles url and not for those already existing? Becouse i have a lot of links towards old articles url.. i don't want change it...

For example: this is my "SEO e Posizionamento" category blog url: http://www.millestanze.it/myblog/index.php?catid=24&blogid=1 (with all articles about seo).

Can this url remain the same?
Uhmmm.. perhaps i think no...

Please explain me if i use the URL Rewrite plugin i lose the link that i already have towards my blog...

Thanks, bye bye!

LMFancierURL will generate friendly URLs for every article and object in the blog. The old style URLs (with index.php?param=value) should continue to work.

For the articles will the old URLs in addition to the new URLs be known to search engines. This is not desirable as it may be flagged as duplicate content by the search engine. This can be solved by using a canonical link tag on the article pages. (See the LMFancierURL documentation.)

An other solution for the duplicate article URLs problem is to use the LMRedirectToItem plugin that can create redirects from the old URL to the new URL for all articles in your blog.

Custom URL will not change any url's unless you do it manually. Every time you create a new article, you choose the url you want. The advantage of that is you can take words from your item, or the title and use them as keywords in your url. Disadvantage, is that you have to change the url yourself.

Also, if you go back and change older item, Custom will not break inbound links to the old url, in other words if you had an article at http://www.millestanze.it/myblog/index.php?catid=24&blogid=1, and other bloggers linked to it, then you change it to http://www.millestanze.it/myblog/seo-and-ranking/seo-ecommerce, Nucleus will still find the article at the old url.

As slightlysome said, this isn't ideal as a search engine 'might' rank it as duplicate. Google has stated that their engine is smart enough not to do that, but of course Google is not the only search engine out there. I don't know if redierect to item will work with custom url but sounds like would be worth a try, if you decide to use custom.

slightlysome's plugin has the advantage, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it takes the title and converts it to a url automatically, which could be a huge advantage for some people.
