I I understand your question correctly you gave away 90% of the answer.
I think
Code:

<%if(category)%><%StickyItem%><%blog(default,1)%><%else%><%blog(default,1,'Onvertigo News')%><%endif%>

should do exactly as wanted ...
(but only if i visualised correctly your desired result)

Yup...that was it! Thanks Xiffy! This way, if I understand correctly, the sticky item will show up on the main page regardless if there is another item in that category. Is that right?

the demo URL on the very first post of the thread doesn't work.

Can some one come back again on how i make a sticky post? Where do i specify ItemID and Template .. can someone explain with an example..

help would be much appreciated.

Also, by default, I am expecting that I can create a sticky for each category.. that can happen rite?

Please advice.

As the instigator of this posting and encouraging Xiffy to get Sticky Posting to work I can confirm that I have a working example here:

http://timeflies.sblogger.com/

This is on 2.5 Beta. On the other hand I also have another site that I have just started which is also 2.5 Beta and I cannot get NP_StickyItem to work. As far as I can see by comparing the two installations everything appears to be the same - unless of course the latest download of 2.5 differs from the one I downloaded originally.

The site that doesn't work is:

http://raysrocketry.websanon.com/

Any ideas anyone?

<%Blog(10,default)%>

Code:

<%StickyItem%>

you can see the first image where I did the settings @
http://www.village-idiot.org/wtf/admin1.png

and where I put it in my skin @
http://www.village-idiot.org/wtf/admin2.png

I used StickyItem plugin in two different Web sites. Works great -- only one Web site (and they have the SAME design) shows the item twice when you go to its own category. The other one doesn't do this. There isn't much different between the two...

Here's the page showing the duplicate:

http://www.barksdalepta.org/index.php?catid=1

I only put the sticky item on the main page... not the archive pages. So what's going on?

Thank you.
